Oral Chelation

What is Oral Chelation Therapy?

Oral Chelation Therapy is the treatment and removal of impurities in the blood stream using a synthetic amino acid called EDTA (ethylene diamine tetraacetic acid). The treatment is usually administered by taking easy to swallow capsules twice daily.

How Does Oral Chelation Therapy Work?

The active ingredient EDTA binds together with minerals and impurities in the blood and eliminates them from the body through the urine.

What Does Oral Chelation Therapy Do?

Remove Plaque from artery2Over time dangerous metals and toxins build up in the blood stream and deposit plaque in the arteries which narrows the blood vessels. This is the primary cause of heart disease. By removing many dangerous toxins and free radicals from the body, Oral Chelation Therapy purifies the blood, cleans the arteries and removes the calcium, cholesterol and plaque which are the primary causes of heart disease.

Over a period of time Oral Chelation Therapy reverses the build up of dangerous plaque in the arteries and, by suppressing free radicals, greatly reduces the irritation of the lining of the blood vessels.

Does Oral Chelation Therapy Work?

Some extraordinary claims have been made for Chelation Therapy and many of these indicate its effectiveness in preventing and reversing the effects of heart disease. Apart from those which show the benefits for those suffering from heart disease, numerous scientific studies have been published which show the effectiveness of Chelation Therapy in the treatment and relief of Arthritis (particularly Rheumatoid), Hypertension (high blood pressure), Diabetes and certain types of cancer.

Many patients have reported increased blood flow (particularly to the extremities), increased energy, reduction in shortness of breath and chest pains, clearer skin and greatly increased feelings of wellbeing.

Details of some of these studies are published on this website for reference.

Even with the backing of these studies, we do not make any claims that Oral Chelation Therapy will diagnose, treat or cure any disease.

Is Oral Chelation Therapy Safe?

Overall EDTA Chelation Therapy has been shown to be very safe. Virtually no side effects have been discovered and its long term use has not resulted in any documented severe side effects. However, like most therapies, individuals should consult their medical practitioner if they believe there is any cause for concern.

Are All Oral Chelation Therapy Products the Same?

Products vary greatly in composition, strength and ingredients. Some guidelines that we believe are important are:

Strength:  For maximum effectiveness we recommend a dose of  500mg EDTA twice daily. Less than this may reduce effectiveness, more will probably not be absorbed by the body.

Quality:

Be careful what you put into your body. Only take supplements that are produced in the USA by a laboratory that follows GMP (Good Manufacturing Processes), USP procedures for disintegration and HPCL testing methods. The product label will tell you if these practices are used.

Ingredients:

Although the most important ingredient of Oral Chelation Therapy products is the EDTA there are many other ingredients that you should look for. Vitamins, B1 B2 B6 and B12, Vitamin C and E plus some metals like Magnesium, Selenium, Zinc, Chromium etc are important to replace those toxic metals removed in the chelating process. Other ingredients such as Cholene, Bromelain and Inositol affect how the EDTA is absorbed into the body.

Reliability:
There are many new suppliers and distributors popping up every day and just as many going out of business. Oral Chelation Therapy is a long term treatment and your supplier should have a long term history of supplying this product and a commitment to the future.

What is the difference between Intravenous Chelation Therapy and Oral Chelation Therapy?
Intravenous therapy is a shock cleansing of the arteries. Where Oral Chelation Therapy works over a period of time to clear plaque and mineral debris from the arterial system, intravenous therapy does it in one short sharp burst. Even after intravenous therapy doctors recommend that Oral Chelation Products are taken to maintain the arterial system and prevent the build up of plaque. Intravenous therapy is very expensive and, over the long term, has not been proven to be any more effective than Oral Chelation.
